These are extinct animals who have been found all over the world and in tar pits too. They look very scary and existed with people so humans had to fight these scary creatures off. They were much bigger than our big cats now and had huge front teeth to rip through flesh to eat.

They seem to have short legs compared to our big cats like lions and especially cheetahs. It is amazing that they hunted big animals and humans had to deal with them. Wikipedia has lots of facts about these and I found good images on google image search but there obviously are no photos.
