Earlier this year a friend of mine and business partner started his AFF (Accelerated freefall course) so that he could become a qualified sky diver. Since July (4 months) he has done more than 130 skydives, which is rare in the UK with our shitty weather.

He has obtained ratings in several different sky diving disciplines already, so this BASE jump is for him as he is killing it!
There is no such thing as an 'easy' BASE jump, as when a jump becomes easy, you become complacent. When you become complacent in this very unforgiving sport, you die.
As far as a BASE jumps on this trip went, this was the least technical and I wasn't doing it for the first time, which brought the pressure down and I was able to relax a little and enjoy the jump, while keeping my guard up.
It's easy to fall into a trap as your jump numbers start to build, you will find that certain BASE jumpers will not do 'hand held' jumps, as they believe it is not cool. They would rather do a 'stowed' jump.
In my opinion, a stowed jump from a bridge with only 4 seconds til impact, is not cool, it's stupid.
I weighed up the odds again on whether I would want to try a stowed jump off this bridge, as after all, every skydive is a stowed jump, so it's likely that I would pull the jump off perfectly.
BUT, the risk to reward for me doesn't add up.
It is simply not worth looking cool for, missing your pull and dying...I like my life and so I would rather do a stowed jump from a higher object, end of.

Steve got his new nickname at a UK drop zone called Headcorn, as he managed five 360 degree turns on his AFF Level 5.
Most students manage two 360s on the skydive, but he just kept going until pull height haha, so Chris Lynch (AFF Instructor at Headcorn) named him Stevie-5-spins, and it's stuck!
