My Fake Shampoo Advert and my History of stupid haircuts

in extremely-funny •  7 years ago

Dear All. It seems only right that I should talk to you about my hair.

BUT before I do, here is an amusing Shampoo advert that I made with @sazzler a few years ago (the video will be extra-amusing for those of you who know basic German)

Im sure you all enjoyed that immensely, but no doubt you are glad it is over so that we can get to the most important subject of this article: MY HAIR

For those of you who don't know: Hair is a thing that grows on your head (like freckles except really long.....is hair actually just 3D freckles ? discuss....)

heres where it all started, at the tender age of 5 with a superlative bowl-cut issued to me by my doting parents who clearly couldn't afford a hair dresser and felt it was only right to give it a go themselves. To try this at home, simply put an appropriately sized salad bowl over your head and use a small hedge trimmer to gently remove all the hair below the line of the bowl, being careful not to remove the ears: they may come in useful later. (also, don't expect to find a bike as awesome as this anytime soon)

jump 15 years later to Burning man 2007 which Im fairly sure was the longest my hair ever grew. As you can see I was looking pretty awesome in a blue silk dress and paisley bandana with the mandatory flying goggles (for the mega blinding dust storms). To achieve this hair-style, I recommend living in squats, taking psychedelic drugs and discovering the infinite power of love in the middle of a desert.

A few years later I decided to get a perm and then dye it ginger. This was based on a comment my friend had made many years before about the presence of ginger in my beard wherein he wondered what I would look like as a curly-haired ginger man. Well, shortly after I had this new hair style, I got a job in a cafe in Cambridge where I stayed for six months without ANYBODY knowing that it wan't natural. I can report that girls treated me with a lot more trust than I had previously experienced and boys very slightly less so. To this day, I am not sure why. To achieve this hair-cut, I recommend becoming deluded by societies constraints and harrowed by the consistent failing of reality to match up with your dreams.

Of course, there have been times where my hair has been shorter (such as now) but here is an example of when I let my beard grow out a bit. It never got much longer than this because a beard is a trouble-making possession which can not be allowed to grow more powerful than its owner, or the mind begins to distort and decisions begin to get made without you. But for the purpose of this blog I thought it was a relevant addition. Perhaps more important are the exciting trousers Im wearing which were left at my mothers house by a Bulgarian chap named Peter, so if you're out there Peter, Im keeping them warm for you!

And Finally, the most recent cut I had (probably the reason Ive made this blog) which is a 1960's/70's inspired style (cut by @sazzler) for a recent film production called The Haunted Hotel project. As you can see, it comes full circle back to my original bowl cut, but now comes complete with added moustache and side-burns. Thats right, I am the 5th Beatle. In an exciting turn of events, I was called by a production team shortly afterwards to be in the new Mike Leigh film but sadly I had already cut it all off! Nevermind eh?

So now you know. And I hope this inspires you for many years to come. Hair is not just for making you look great.... Its also for messing around with and making yourself look like a massive dork.

Peace and love everybody. Keep on rockin the do's
x Basil
