Lazy eye or also called amblyopia is a condition when vision does not reach the optimal target it should (according to age and intelligence) despite correction, is a condition when the brain tends to use only one eye. Amblyopia most often affects the age group of children. Even so, this condition is still possible to occur in adults. This can be bilateral or unilateral. Decreased vision occurs due to abnormal visual development. When the neural pathways between the brain and the eye are not stimulated properly, the brain prefers the other eye. Symptoms include crossed eyes, eyes that may not look cooperative, or poor depth perception. Both eyes can be affected. If this condition is not treated properly, it will cause blindness in the eyes. Actually to treat lazy eye depends on the severity and impact on the child's vision. In most cases, if lazy eye is detected as early as possible, the cure rate is quite good. According to experts, results are best when treatment is started before age 7 years. Treatment may include wearing an eye patch, eye drops, glasses or contact lenses, and sometimes surgery.
