The above image might remind you of the sensational thing she did two years back. Hope, you can fill the above blank easily now. If you still can’t, let me give you more hints. They are the swiss army knife of our body. They help us express our emotional expression in a better manner. Give your intelligent device, brain, a chance to think even if you come up with different answers you can share them with me.
I was having a discussion with my younger sister. Suddenly, she told me some facts about that body part, and I was amazed like I never paid attention to it. It was there all the time. Thereafter, I questioned other family members about the usage of that face part.
Yes, I am taking about our winsome “eyebrows”
To quote Jack Black, “You must never underestimate the power of the eyebrows”
The family members commonly responded that we have them to protect our eyes. When there is rain or sweat, the eyebrows don’t let the eyes fill with moisture. Else our vision would be blurred. The arc shape of the brow deflect the moisture to the sides of the face. Also, they protect our eyes from sunlight. Secondly, as I already mentioned about the emotional expression. The eyebrows help us express anger, happiness, sadness, empathy, sympathy and other expression. They help us catch other persons lie whether the body language matches with what one is saying. It is very useful in verbal communication. They are essentially useful to speakers of sign language as they controt their eyes to complement hands.
Additionally, they can be used as ID cards. They barely change. They are used in the facial recognition algorithms, which we generally use to unlock our mobile devices. We can identify a person from a long distance in a crowded place just form his brow. In a 2003 study at MIT, people were shown a picture of Richard Nixon with his eyes Photoshopped out and then a picture with his eyebrows erased. They had significantly more trouble identifying Tricky Dick and other celebrities when the brow was bald. Moreover, Scientist have found that there is a strong relationship between our eyebrow appearance and specific genes.
I didn’t know much about our brows and never paid attention to them. But unknowingly, they are helping and telling us so many things.
