Today I was in the kitchen like most days cooking and helping when I was asked to read some instructions. I have never struggled before and always could decipher no matter how small. These were the instructions I was trying to read in a larger format than what I actually had on the can.

I could have cheated like I normally would have and used my phone to take a photo and then zoom in,but who am I kidding.I thought maybe they have changed the packaging and gone with a cost saving label and made it smaller. I needed to prove my theory and know my eyes were still great. I thought this could be plausible as everything has shrunk in size these days.

I grabbed my son in law and asked him to read the instructions. To my horror he rattled them off and proved a point. I was set up and they had learnt them off by heart. Alright I give up and admit my eyes have deteriorated over the last year or so.

I decided to Google it as they say Google is your friend. The common thing I found out is that your eyes start to deteriorate over 40 so being over 50 it is not surprising then and quite normal.I will get the glasses and leave the hearing aid for another time then.

I started needing reading glasses around 40. I didn't realize it at first, but it seemed every time I sat down to read a book or magazine or..... whatever, I would feel sleepy pretty fast. Later, something prompted me to try some "readers" and I found everything was so much clearer, I then realized that even though the print didn't look blurry to me, my eyes were changing and were struggling to focus, therefore I was getting that tired feeling. I was happy it was such an easy fix as here you can get good readers even at the drugstore or department stores. Every few years, I need a little stronger. Now I have a pair of them everywhere ! Can't read labels or prices or menus without them.

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

haha. Glad you went for the real stuff and not the instant shite

Thought this was the instant shit. Have made real custard before with eggs and stuff but it is too much hassle. Need to make my chocolate mousse again, but need to buy some brandy first. Hate the packet stuff.

Nah there's more instant instant stuff than that!

ha! yes sir it's a pain in the neck to realize these things and comes as a big shock when you first realize it! lol.

Yikes! Good luck with that. I know I have had perfect eyes for quite some time now. Everyone in my family wears glasses except me. This was the first year my eye doctor said if I needed to I should pick up some cheater glasses.
