Last year the hearts of many a petrol head started beating a little faster when Sauber F1 announced that Alfa Romeo would become its lead sponsor. It was a great livery, one with history, which returned to the grid.
Unless you’re an immature giggling misogynistic and stereotyping ex-BBC presenter, then you probably only understand the virus of the Quadrifolgio if you ever had the pleasure of driving your own Alfa. Maybe even a Twin Spark. Or an older Alfa Sud?
I had that pleasure. And one of the most difficult choices I ever faced as a young adult: a 155 or the new 147? Eventually, the 147 won out because the 155 was rather large for a young adult and a single one. I regret nothing, as ever.
Today it was announced that the Sauber F1 will be rebranded and the historic Alfa Romeo brand will make its return as a F1 team. While the car will be Ferrari powered, everyone who knows his Alfas can only grin and laugh at those who claim it’s still not Alfa powered, it is a seminal moment.
Both for fans of Alfa Romeo and for lovers of F1.
I belong to both those categories. Rumor has it that while he loves the color papaya, @svemirac is too.
Things will be only better at the first test of the season when the new car and livery is unveiled. Despite it most likely sounding like a hover on steroids.

...Starting to make more sense why Kimi Raikkonen went there from the Scuderia now as well...Ferrari powered...Let's hope it goes well...I'm also hoping my boy Daniel Ricciardo goes well with Renault.

I thought the man had some sympathy and went back to his roots. I didn’t think he went there because Ferrari would further fund his ridiculous wages.
Looking forward to the Badger hopefully bringing more consistency and podiums to Renault but it will be a real struggle.

Yeah, I know right? It's all money these days. Still the Iceman has a certain appeal. He's newsworthy and I think it's a good thing he's on the grid. I'm starting to warm up for the season, feeding myself a lot of information about what's going in and getting excited. I heard the Mclaren start up for the first time today...A lot of happy faces so hopefully Renault power works better for them than Honda.
Yep, I've been watching Danny Ric training and he's pushing hard. It's probably going to be a tough year but hopefully they learn a lot and get themselves up the sharp end a few times.

Oh and the Iceman is a “legend”. Not tuned by PR, unlike sadly enough Daniel. Would love to hear Ricc unfiltered. He definitely is a bigger character than he has been allowed to be so far. Bigger than life character probably even.
