McLaren release the final specs of their new McLaren Senna ahead of the Geneva International Motor Show debut on March 6th
This car is designed for road use but made to excel on the track use and produces 800kg of downforce thanks to its new rear wing and active front and rear spoilers.
Acceleration will be 2.8 seconds 0-60 and 6.8 seconds 0-124mph with a top speed of 211mph. The 4.0l twin turbo V8 produces 789bhp making it the most powerful internal combustion engine road car.
Built around a carbon fibre monocage chassis and fitted with carbon fibre panels this car will be the lightest road car produced by them since they made the F1. Dry weight will be 1198kg giving a power to weight ration of 695bhp/tonne.
Each car is hand built taking 300 hours each and only 500 cars are to be produced. All cars in this production run are already allocated and cost £750,000 each. The final Senna was auctioned in December and raised £2 million for the Senna institute, a non-profit making organisation in Brazil to help educate underprivileged children.
The interior of the car is designed around giving the driver the best experience both on and off the track. The foot pedals are fixed but the seat and gear-lever move on rails to keep the driver in an optimum position. All door and window controls now move to a roof mounted console and everything else is controlled through the fold out TFT control panel in the centre of the dash. This can select full auto or race-manual set-ups using the extended paddles mounted behind the 3 spoke steering wheel. No buttons or controls are fitted to the steering wheel.
You can specify extra equipment for road use, like parking sensors and rear-view camera. A super lightweight Bowers & Wilkins audio system is also available. The seats can be specified to fit the wider rear-end and finished in leather.
The show car is the traditional Senna grey but the cars can be made very individual with many exterior colour combinations available and the same number of trim choices inside.
If you have ever tried one of those online configurators when selecting a new car, you will know how difficult it is to choose. Sometimes less is better especially when it’s time to sell.
Spoiler Alert!
McLaren make a fantastic selection of dream supercars now and I can’t wait to see this in the flesh.
