How Facebook Screws with your Daily Plans.

What is Facebook?

Most of us know what Facebook is and I guess almost 99% of us Steemians have had been on Facebook.

Facebook is a social networking website created by Mark Zuckerberg. It basically makes it easier for you to connect and share things with your friends and families. Some of you might be thinking we'll it's a good thing but I tend to disagree.

I am not against the fact that Facebook helps to narrow the gap we have between our friends and families who live far away. But the fact that recently Facebook has gone to be downright addictive. Mainly Children's who are at the age of 16 - 19 cannot live without Facebook. Every time their phone buzzes they have to log into Facebook to see if anything's new.

That is the number one point which makes Facebook not so likable to me. But the most irritating point that I absolutely hate is the fact that whenever you come to a same location as one of your Facebook friends it will notify your friend that I am close by without even notifying myself. For example recently I had to make a few trips to Siliguri, West Bengal, India. I had an exam one day and some other work to do on the other. Facebook notified my friends in Siliguri that Arunava is Nearby and I got a lot of texts and phone calls asking me to meet them. Don't get me wrong I love to spend time with my friends but at that time I was there on work purposes so I had to say no. Saying no once to a friend is ok but saying it repeatedly is definitely rude to my friend. When I want to hangout I will contact my friends myself no need for Facebook to butt in.

You guys might say that we could turn of our Location in our devices so that Facebook is unable to determine my location but I need my location active because I use a variety of apps that use my location.

So basically you wake up in the morning and think in your head that I will be doing this and that throughout the day and then you receive a phonecall from your friend saying that Yo buddy I saw that you are close by let's hangout basically your plans go down the drain.

I have stopped being active on Facebook I only post few photos which are linked to a game I play. I have told all my friends who are close to me to just call me instead of looking on Facebook to find me. That way I could plan ahead of time and allot a time section where we could hangout.

And on another note it can also be said that Facebook is tracking us that's not to good for us either.

That's my personal opinion. Comment down if you have had a similar incident in your life.

I went on a Facebook haitus years ago. It was pretty easy. I started by deleting the mobile app.

It was refreshing! Suddenly, your life is truly out there and not just on social media.

Today, I go back on Facebook at night only when I do my work. I avoid in the day. I only open messenger to keep in contact with friends and workers.

Give this hiatus a shot and you'll realize you'd miss nothing.

Good one @arunava

Ohhh, I would hate for that to happen... Hmmm, does it still do that if you log out off fb? That's one reason I do without location... and stay logged out of fb... lol

I never tried that. But logging in and out will be a hassle but I could do it when I travel for any work related stuffs. Thanks that was helpful.

I'm only in fb on mobile for small pockets of time, so that's quite ok - and I use the click on pic login so it's quite convenient! :)

Facebook is notorious for privacy exploitation and its going to get worse in future

That is true I am from India and People here are not aware how important Privacy is. Our Aadhar Cards are openly Distributed among all like its nothing. The fact that Facebook tracks us is just on another level of Privacy exploitation.

I stopped using facebook once I found steemit. I was tired of all of the repetitive ads, the meaningless meme posts and north korea jokes .
