Facebook is banning all ads related to Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies and ICOs after trying to fight fraud.

The new rule "forbids financial products and services that are often accompanied by fraudulent practices or fraudulent promotions, such as binary options, ICOs, and cryptocurrencies."

In a post, Facebook Product Management Director Rob Leathern suggested that Facebook could change policies to allow the advertising of legitimate business-related to cryptocurrencies.

"We want people to continue to discover and learn about new products and services through Facebook ads without fear of scams. There are many companies that advertise binary, ICO, and cryptocurrencies options that do not currently work in good faith. "

This is interesting on a few levels. Facebook has been under fire for the spreading of “Fake News”. So this policy changes could be a result of that work. On the other hand,I’m wondering if they are going to be rolling out crypto (hopefully LTC) payments on messenger. This policy change could be an effort to clean up and try to legitimize the image of cryptos.

Hearing this makes me really glad I decided to take a break from Facebook a while back.

Awful choice by Facebook @bighomie...If I'm into crypto or bitcoin, I more than likely want to see ads about it. Who does Facebook think they are? I'm fairly certain they've also done this with medical marijuana, guns, and other sensitive categories. Apparently a Bitcoin company can't advertise on there, but they don't have an issue with Russia placing ads designed to stroke hatred & division within our country!

...or perhaps Facebook is getting ready to launch their own coin...?
