  • A premiere for Facebook! The company recognizes that it made the biggest mistake

  • An experiment started last year turned out to be a disaster for the company.
In October 2017, Facebook launched an experiment to separate posts that were not promoted. Thus, the users had basically two news feeds, Explore Feed and News Feed.

  • In Explore Feed, the posts of pages that were not promoted were to be found. And in News Feed there were the links that were promoted and those that were shared by friends.

  • The change has become available to users in 6 countries, but the experiment did not have the desired results, writes Gizmodo.

  • Most users were disturbed by the fact that they had to change the two feeds and were not satisfied with the posts they were seeing.

  • A noticeable negative effect was the expansion of the fake-news phenomenon. Because official pages were hidden in the secondary feed, if they did not pay for promotion, users saw only articles published by friends, which were often incorrect or misinformed.

  • So, Facebook's leadership decided to stop the experiment and admitted that the idea was a mistake. The announcement came from Adam Mosseri, head of News Feed at Facebook.

  • "In your polls, people told us they do not want two separate feeds, they are not happy with the posts they se, , and it does not help them connect better with their friends and family" , he said.

  • Explore Feed was introduced in Sri Lanka, Bolivia, Slovakia, Serbia, Guatemala and Cambodia.

I am sorry about that.

The best thing about the news is that Facebook admitted that it was wrong with something! That experiment from the beginning was not good for the users. Thanks for sharing this interesting publication. Best Regards
