Facebook had this obscenely weird thing going on that was seriously making me cringe. I didn't think much of it at the beginning. Using free apps on your mobile is going to introduce you to a bunch of ads. But I've been repeatedly getting ads from Facebook of all things. I've never used Facebook on my smartphone and I never will. But the problem is that Fakebook is already the leader with 2.07 billion on FB, 1.3 billion from Messenger, 1.2 billion on WhatsApp, 800 million on Instagram active users (The number of registered users is even higher.) So what's with the ads? Are they trying to burn their money? Don't they have enough of a network effect??
Above all does anybody know how to get rid off the Fakebook app on my Android? Even though I haven't even used the app it had some cache stored in it. I want this thing off my tracking device (which I leave at home for the most part.
Now some stats because stats are important. FB has the Alexa rank of 3 and has US$27.638 billion Revenue for 2016 and after using all the tax loopholes US$10.217 billion of it was net profit. It means each user generated about $5 in profit or $13.75 in revenue per year. That's less than 2 months on Netflix. The revenue of Fakebook comes from ads and those ads need users. During the past decade, the company has grown fast. Now it's one of the most valuable companies in the world. While digging for extra material, I figured out what's going on. Fakebook has grown to the edge and has nowhere left to go without innovation.
Facebook Knows How to Track You Using the Dust on Your Camera Lens
By no innovation I meant no front end innovation. It's like upgrading a game console without making any good games. Facebokk's Business model requires people to be jacked into the site longer and longer. It has zero regard for quality and it's all in on quantity; just like YouTube algorithms that made long worthless trash and staged YouTube wars go viral. Basically this is the exact opposite of STEEM. When you are paid for the quantity, the vanity breeds itself on steroids.
In 2014, Facebook filed a patent application for a technique that employs smartphone data to figure out if two people might know each other. The author, an engineering manager at Facebook named Ben Chen, wrote that it was not merely possible to detect that two smartphones were in the same place at the same time, but that by comparing the accelerometer and gyroscope readings of each phone, the data could identify when people were facing each other or walking together. That way, Facebook could suggest you friend the person you were talking to at a bar last night, and not all the other people there that you chose not to talk to.
Of course these uncivilized suckers Zuckers say that they haven't put any of these into practice.

Patents filed by Facebook that mention People You May Know show some ingenious methods that Facebook has devised for figuring out that seeming strangers on the network might know each other. One filed in 2015 describes a technique that would connect two people through the camera metadata associated with the photos they uploaded. It might assume two people knew each other if the images they uploaded looked like they were titled in the same series of photos—IMG_4605739.jpg and IMG_4605742, for example—or if lens scratches or dust were detectable in the same spots on the photos, revealing the photos were taken by the same camera.
There is a very important thing people tend to miss when they talk about these privacy encroachments. I'll let you think about it for a while. Just know that there is no such thing as Free lunch; not on Facebook and not for Facebook
“We’ve often sought patents for technology we never implement, and patents should not be taken as an indication of future plans.”
Basically they are just gathering ammo and There is no way those developed tech stays without being used. There is a 2 factors that can keep this patent tech being implemented by Fakebook. There could be bugs and there will be costs for all the processing power. Instead I ttink the developed tech will get used by 3 letter government agencies.
People at Facebook Don’t Know How Facebook Works
How Facebook Figures Out Everyone You've Ever Met
- A man who years ago donated sperm to a couple, secretly, so they could have a child—only to have Facebook recommend the child as a person he should know. He still knows the couple but is not friends with them on Facebook.
- A social worker whose client called her by her nickname on their second visit, because she’d shown up in his People You May Know, despite their not having exchanged contact information.
- A woman whose father left her family when she was six years old—and saw his then-mistress suggested to her as a Facebook friend 40 years later.
These are all real stories becoming a reality what some people call [shadow profiles.]https://mashable.com/2013/06/26/facebook-shadow-profiles/https://mashable.com/2013/06/26/facebook-shadow-profiles/) You can follow the links for more info. Basically any info you allow FB to access will go to a database and this will be done with its 2+ Billion accounts. Then the entire database will be cross referenced and data-mined. They claim they are still not using your GPS data on this database or else every place every single person has visited carrying a FB enabled smartphone would be on a database to be cross referenced with everybody else.
Please don't let this fact slide by. This means every single thing anybody has ever put on facebok or given access for the FB app. Every single god damn thing you have probably forgotten many times over. It doesn't end there. nything anybody has uploaded/given access to that has you in it is on a shadow profile. If somebody has you on his/contacts and FB has a copy, if you had been in a party with a bunch of people and they took photos for FB, Congratz cuz U R Being TrackD!!!
PRISM. Facebook was one of nine companies the NSA made deals with to turn over information about users.
In other words, you may have an email address that you've never listed anywhere for anyone else to see — but because one of your friends added it to his contact list, a snooping government agency may discover it.
Even if and when FB isn't using all these patents at the global 2+ Billion user scale, they are always doing tests. Anyone could end up being a target of these tests.
Facebook recommended that this psychiatrist's patients friend each other
When Lisa looked at her Facebook profile, she was surprised to see that she had, at some point, given Facebook her cell phone number. It's a number that her patients could also have in their phones. Many people don't realize that if they give Facebook access to their phone contacts, it uses that information to make friend recommendations; so if your ex-boss or your one-time Tinder date or your psychiatrist is a contact in your phone, you might start seeing them pop up in the "People You May Know" list.
That's my guess as to how this happened. All these patients likely have Lisa's number in their phones, so an algorithm analyzing this network of phone contacts might reasonably assume all these people are connected. A phone number alone can be quite a revealing bit of information.
Another vital piece of information that I must bring out is that WhatsApp is owned by Fakebook.
Why is Fakebook going through all these troubles? It's all because of misaligned incentives. There needs to be ads for FB to make money and those ads need eyes. More people mean more interactions and that leads to more time spent on FB. These Zuckers will do anything to get your eyes on FB and makes less than a little over a single month's cost of a Netflix subscription. If we look at the 2016 stats you get US$17.421 Billion expenses and I'm betting only a tiny portion of it was taxes. STEEM blockchain is run by a bunch of witness nodes around the globe. It's not a massive expensive operation. But STEEM blockchain is more secure than FB. There are only 2 ways to take down STEEM. You have to either shut down the internet or locate and shutdown all witness servers across the globe and also take down the backup servers. I'm sure CIA can pull it off with a half a billion dollars but who knows how many people keep a copy of the blockchain without running a witness node. How is anybody going to track that?
Despite all this security and impossibility to censor, running the network itself is pretty cheap. STEEM has 9.5% inflation and 10% of it (0.95%) goes to the witnesses. That's about two and a half million STEEM sustaining the existence of its network. So the cost of keeping STEEM alive is pretty low. Look at the following example.
Facebook Swears It Won't Use Its New Powerful Face Recognition to Suggest 'People You May Know'
This morning, Facebook announced that it’s going to start scanning all the photos uploaded to the social network looking for your face, unless you opt out—or unless you are a European or Canadian, where privacy law actually limits what Facebook can do with people’s faces. The purpose of the scanning, according to Facebook, is to alert you if someone has publicly uploaded a photo of you that you don’t know about, especially if they are trying to impersonate you.
It’s easy to identify your face if Facebook is only looking for you among the photos your friends have uploaded. It’s harder if the possible pool is more than a billion people, a.k.a. Facebook’s entire user base. That Facebook thinks it can do the latter means Facebook believes its faceprints are really good now.
These kind of things cost money. Lots and lots of money. Twatter and SNAP are 2 companies are bleeding money all over the place despite all the popularity. SNAP is a vanity app with a poor business model but TWTR is simply spending too much on controlling people's lives and censorign everything on the platform. Every privacy encroachment Facebook engage in is going to cost them money. They are desperate to still put out online ads to acquire more active users onto the platform to gain a little over $13 bucks. STEEM only stores data. STEEM is apolitical. STEEM is free from censorship.
STEEM is simple but resilient.
Above all STEEM won't face an Atlas Shrugged.
Yes. That's what happened with Silicon Valley SJW infestations like Twaater. They spend too much spreading ideology and end up loosing too much in their vanity. You fellow steemians are surely having very little to absolutely zero activity on PRISM friendly social media that has misaligned incentives. But you can spread the message to friends and make sure to avoid anything that your friends and family would put on FB. With financials getting tight, FB will work more and more closer with USSA government and more and more people will come for STEEM and other blockchain social media projects like GOLOS, YOYOW etc.
Before the brightest day, there will be the blackest night. Stay informed, resteem and spread the message. Stocks are still below the valuations of dot-com bubble era. The social media companies will reign supreme for few more years. When they crash, those who HODL SP will be the 1%
Facebook is being used by governments to track our every movement, I never ever use Facebook. It's the worst!

Your big letters (headings) can be a little hard reading on my mobile. But other than that you have excellent material.
It's still my day zero and I'm trying to see if I can deplete my 19.7MB bandwidth.
The single most important point is the costs you mentioned. I'm trying Zappl, dmania.lol. lol and currently on busy.org and the entire operation is community run and people seem positive and doesn't actually like peeping toms on my privacy. People Road more interested in ideas and other good stuff. I see tons of libertarians around. That's a sign of a solid community.
I still don't have any followers. I don't plan to write this kind of massive articles. But I'll keep posting good stuff. I do need to to get a good hang of the platform. I'm be nice if u guys can check me out. It'd only take 2-3mins and just forget the whole thing if u it isn't your thing.
I'd also like to know what kind of content is preferred here. I'm not going to be any body's bit cheaper but it's good to have a bunch of suggestions to pick from.
I like liberty, science and entertainment. I may or may not be good at comedy.
Have fun and may u all grow wiser!

Ladies and Gentlemen: This is how you go asking for followers without being an annoying jackass. Good job on your first (zero) day. I hope the spammers would take some notes.
Welcome to STEEM!
Try posting on a niche first. It's easy to get noticed there. Zappl has very low volume of posts. Make short stuff on Zappl. Comdey would be nice but make it smart and witty instead of dumb comedy.
Play around and figure it out :-)

Facebook has basically achieved the Holy Grail of mass surveillance. A spy wants to know who it related to other people and how. I guess there is nothing left to do but to turn them into the next Myspace by getting everyone to quit using Facebook and to use Steemit, com instead.

STEEM has a philosophy concerned with quality. So most of the Zuckers would be incompatible with the platform. The older non-millenial groups that are slowly getting a hang of social media would flock to steemit. I see lots of veterans from various areas on the platform. Idiots would ruin themselves on FB etc. and FB will ruin itself. Most of these liberal SJW would simpky die poor hating the whole damn world. Nobody can grow far posting commie jargon on steemit.

yup, to be fair Myspace still makes millions of dollars as people go back and occasionally mine their old accounts for information.

That's not the worst. Think about data-mining your profile to figure things out about you. You may forget many things but the stuff that goes into those FB servers stick there and then you have to add the amount of permissions you have given to FB like your contact lists.

I cant believe how many share sentimental information about their personal lives on facebook.
But a lot of business' advertise on Facebook, its a high premium to pay to advertise but it must be profitable if people still do it.
I love how steem has no ads, sometimes I would just mention having to shave then I see all kinds of ads about razor blades as if Facebook is listening and learning what I am saying

Actually FB charges for ads more than any other company because of their social and spying structure. But they also used to cheat on their advertisers and it all got revealed some months ago. The best marketing is single level affiliate marketing where all parties get something (which was taken into the normal ad space by BAT)

Interesting news post....will be fascinating to see how large Corporates deal with the continued disruption from new innovation.... smaller businesses definitely have a "speed" advantage because they are smaller so they are more lean and robust to deal with changes faster....
Good post. Thanks for the information!

This is what I call an amazing post.
lets say that one day people will be more aware that they are loosing their time in Facebook where they are forced to see ads and promotions that they dont like, that time I hope steemit will be a competitor of Facebook and everyone will start talking about it.
Than we may see few millions of users of Steemit are coming day by day
