Facebook acquires a manufacturer of electronic wristbands that allows users to share photos on their social network, click with their mouse or perform other tasks simply by thinking about it. Facebook announced Monday its intention to acquire CTRL-Labs, a start-up created four years ago and considered as one of the leaders of "computing" (connecting the human brain to the computer), for a price undisclosed. According to Bloomberg, Facebook has paid between $ 500 and $ 1 billion to the company, citing unnamed sources.
Seeing this work is a bracelet that allows people to control their devices as a natural accessory to the movement," Andrew Bosworth, CEO of Facebook, wrote in a blog post announcing the deal. The agreement represents a milestone in Facebook's ambition to develop a brain calculating technology after nearly three years of thinking about this idea at its annual developer conference and its near silence. Although the CTRL-labs bracelet is still a prototype and far from a reality, the acquisition of Facebook suggests that the technology giant has not abandoned this concept, even if its main social networking activity is skeptical between government authorities and some consumers.
Facebook is one of the fastest growing companies looking to create sci-fi products using the Brain Computing interface. In July, Elon Musk said Neuralink, the brain computer company he founded, would be ready for human testing by 2020.
