Friends of steemit, to talk a little about the sea and its mysterious animals I present the Vampire Squid, although vampires are associated with blood sucks, this squid gets its name because of the physical appearance that usually causes terror, and not because it enjoys sucking the blood .
The vampire squid can be found all over the world whenever the temperature fluctuates between 2 and 6 degrees Celsius, which is why it is common to find them in tropical and subtropical ocean waters. The scientific name of the Vampire Squid is Vampyroteuthis infernalis, and it is a small squid of barely 30 cm long, females are larger than males, have large eyes and have the ability to reach just over 900 m deep, where sunlight is scarce as well as oxygen.
The vampire squid has a skin in reddish or reddish brown that combines with its red eyes, has a thin, elastic skin layer that connects its eight arms, which are equipped with fleshy spines known as cirrus. It has a wet and slippery consistency and its mature specimens have a pair of fins that look like ears but actually serve to improve propulsion.
The vampire squid has chromatophores that do not allow them to modify their external coloration, because they also lack sack of ink and as compensation for that lack of defense mechanism, they developed photoreceptors that produce clouds of sticky mucus with bright particles that disorients their rivals and allows the squid escape.
For all these characteristics this maina species is considered as a vampire.
I hope you were surprised to know the vampire squid.
