¿Did you know that cows have a single stomach divided into 4 compartments and that they spend approximately more than seven hours a day eating?
They are extraordinary and intelligent animals, their stomach is divided into: rumen (belly), reticulum (redicilla), omaso (book) and abomaso (stomach). The food passes through the rumen that is the first compartment, there the food is degraded, then it goes through the reticule that is a filter that manipulates the food. In the case that there are huge pieces, they are returned to the rumen, then they go through the omaso and finally they arrive at the obamaso. Cows chew at least 50 times per minute, that is, per day perform more than 40 thousand movements in the jaw.
