Growth in faith: They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed

Jesus is the cornerstone on which the common home of all those who participate in the Kingdom of God is built:
"The stone the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone;
the Lord has done this,
and it is marvelous in our eyes?", Matthew 21:42.
The apostle Peter continues this teaching and explains that Jesus is the "living stone" for those who have the faith in the "son of man": "As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.", 1 Peter 2:4-5.
But for those who live as natural men and reject the Kingdom of God, Jesus is not a "living stone" but a "stumbling stone":
"´A stone of stumbling
And a rock of offense´
They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed", 1 Peter 2:8

What Peter is telling us is that the word of God can be a building stone or a stumbling rock depending on what mentality we see the teaching with: “The natural man does not accept the things that come from the spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because he is spiritually discerned. The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man’s judgment”, 1 Corinthians 2:14-15.
The word of God has no meaning for those who follow the desires of concupiscence, the word is a nuisance that must be taken out of the way. God's love (Agape, Love of Charity) has not penetrated the consciousness of these people.
But for those who love God with a sincere heart, the word is a sign of edification, of construction, of learning. And these ones are those that constitute the holy people of God, and those who collaborate in the construction of the common house, the spiritual house of God.
