Spiritual studies about faith: "That none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin"

The letter to the Hebrews reminds us of the importance of avoiding sin, for two reasons: sin hardens the heart of man, producing a bad conscience, and on the other hand it seduces us through deception: "Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called ´today´, that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.", Hebrews 3:11-13.

Sin takes away humanity: "because each man judges according to his own measure" says Aristoteles. When we sin we expect the same from others, this hardens our hearts, that is, it takes away all mercy from our dealings with others, a hardened heart is a will that is not "kind"; and the epistle gives as an example of this of what happened in the time of Moses where many perished due to their bad conscience: "As it is said: ´Today if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.´ For who were those who heard and yet rebelled? Was it not all those who left Egypt led by Moses? And with whom was he provoked for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?", Hebrews 3:15-17
Sin also has a second negative element according to the faith: it seduces through deception; that is to say, the heart of man no longer seeks the true spiritual goods such as mercy and piety, but the false goods that are the subject of dispute between men who live according to the flesh: honors, fame, money, lust. The false goods, or apparent goods, lead us to false happiness, the ill-fated happiness of Luke 6: 24-26 and the works of the flesh: "The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissension, factions and envy, drunkenness, orgies and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.", Galatians 5:19-21.
