The power of faith: But those who trust in the LORD will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles. Isaiah 40:31

The Second Book of Isaiah is a call from the prophet to renew the faith in God. The ancient kingdoms of Judah and Israel with their monarchies had lost the common sense that comes from the fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion), and because of the hardness of hearts that distance men from God, they had suffered destruction at the hands of the Assyrian and Babylonian empires, because there is a spiritual principle that cannot be forgotten: "The righteous are guided and protected by the LORD, but the evil are on the way to their doom" Psalm 1:6.
Only a small remnant of members of the tribe of Judah had survived the deportations and with the arrival of Cyrus the Great, a divinely inspired monarch from the persian empire, times had begun to change, the oppression and cruelty of the Assyrians and Babylonians who had successively ruled the Middle East had ended, and about this Isaiah or one of his disciples wrote to renew Israel's hope.
As had happened with the prophet Moses who freed the Hebrews from Egyptian oppression, a new exodus to the holy land had to take place. The Persians were a tolerant people, and Cyrus in his mercy had shown great empathy towards the oppressed peoples.
That is why, in the face of the skepticism of many, the prophet wrote that the Lord is omnipotent, omniscient, and perfect:
"The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the whole earth.
He never becomes faint or weary;
there is no limit to his understanding" Isaiah 40:28.
And then the prophet continued his oracle explaining that those who trust in God with true fear and wisdom do not see their hope disappointed because they renew their inner strength in the Lord:
"He gives strength to the faint
and strengthens the powerless.
Youths may become faint and weary,
and young men stumble and fall,
but those who trust in the LORD
will renew their strength;
they will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not become weary,
they will walk and not faint" Isaiah 40:29-31.
Isaiah's teachings are a reminder of the power of faith, because those who have it can face anything, even the unexpected.
