READ: Luke 7:1-10
Key Scripture The centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou should enter under my roof. Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed (Luke 7:6-7).
THOUGHTS
Now, we are confronted today with the story of the Centurion. From the look of things, he was a very wealthy, popular and generous man – a man who single handedly built a synagogue is not a small man at all. He was so influential that the Jewish elders became his messengers to Jesus. He probably was the richest man in his nation – the Dangote of his generation. But he considered himself unworthy to have Jesus under his roof. He believed that whatever Jesus said from afar could connect to him. I see this as faith from afar. Faith is the strongest network that can connect to any blessing. At the end, the centurion didn’t get to meet Jesus face to face, but he received his miracle. I see this kind of faith at work when people send their prayer requests, or when they call, requesting for prayers. You may not know a man of God or even meet him - but you feel the effect of his prayers. That’s faith from a distance. It’s stronger than any network.
