Yesterday, we got spend an awesome day at the "A Day Out With Thomas" the train experience.
We drove about an hour away and got there around 8am when the doors opened. I didn't really know what to expect as this was a gift from the grandparents since they know how much Jacob enjoys Thomas and playing with trains so they picked up some tickets.
It was a very cool event! I need to look into the history of the site we were at, but it was an older train depot type of place which had been repurposed for train museums and experiences. The big draw was actually getting to ride in the coaches of Thomas and Percy. They had two replica engines, and you got to ride in each for about 20 minutes - Jacob thought it was so cool to be pulled around by Thomas!
They had so many other things to do. A few of the other highlights were a model train exhibit with a whole bunch of model trains on a track, an outdoor button-pressing area where you could make the railroad tracks come down and the bells ring, and also a tent with a whole bunch of Thomas toys that the kids could come in and play with. Jacob loved playing with all the Thomas toys as it had a bunch of trains he didn't have in his toy sets and also a ride-on Thomas that you could drive, similar to a power wheel.
Kendra did great during the day and slept most of the time we were there. She was lulled to sleep by the trains and she traveled well in the car for a couple of hours total - what a good girl! She just turned 6 weeks old too!
What a fun day of memory building!
