Welcoming The New Year 2018, Our Style

received_585932605072120.jpegThis year the regulations had been more strict in regard to using fire crackers here in the Philippines as we prepare for the celebration of the new year. I hope this will once again lessen the NYE-related accidents.

My family had'nt used any fire cracker even on the previous celebrations. We just watch the evening sky and wait for some fireworks to fill the sky. That is more economical on our part and quite safe. This year we are still staying away from any kind of fire works and my brother took the initiative to do the merry making the old pinoy style. As you can see on the photo, he took a metal bowl and struck it with anything hard to create some noise. That is better in my own opinion, safe and fun. But, I was waiting to see a tricycle driven by some local folks going around the neighborhood making all sorts of noises that we were used to. Maybe some children blowing some trumpets their parents bought earlier in the morning. I must admit I did not see any of those and I am missing them.

I was glad the celebration was fun and safe for everyone. Young and old alike. I guess any kind of occasion or celebration is slightly changing for the better or being modified to fit the current situation. Take for example, my uncle who is now far from us. If you noticed the photo, he was on a video call. We are few hours ahead of California but he was able to witness everything with the help of technology.

I would like to share this experience with you Steemit friends. Hope you like it.

Cheers
