Part 3 - Family Psych Notes

Back to the beginning of time of an extremely disturbed family.

My father used to be in the Navy. He served in Korea. He ALSO went completely batshit crazy on a ship after taunting a gay man until he shot himself. He spent a year in their psych hospital, then was discharged. I have never seen his papers, but I think it's safe to say it wasn't honorably. I say this because my father acts like he was never in the Navy, unless it serves him. He has never used the VA. He receives no benefits whatsoever.

My mother told me that when she was 15 and pregnant (YES SHE MARRIED HIM AT 15!!), he drove her to the base in San Francisco "just to run in and get something". He left her in the middle of summer in that car. She waited for SIX HOURS. 7 months pregnant, hot, thirsty. 

Then she just walked the 8 miles home. 

She also told me one time that he would not tell her when he was coming home for leave, and would even COME THROUGH THE WINDOW in the middle of the night to "catch her". Of course he never caught her. I actually believe that my mother never knowingly fucked another man except my father. (We'll get back to the word "knowingly" at some point in time.)

She asked her parents if she could leave him and come home. They told her she made her bed, she could lie in it. So, to get this straight, in 1957, they signed for their virginal 15 year old daughter to marry a 22 year old man, and left her in hell.
