Revisiting Afternoon Tea - Part II

Afternoon Tea the Right Way - Part 2

My post about the first course of my afternoon tea for two with my daughter went down well last week.

You may remember that it was at 'Cakes the Difference' in Patcham, Brighton. Here's a second post. This time show casing the cakes course.

Something I didn't mention about 'Cakes the Difference', apart from them serving their afternoon teas much as they were served in the old days, is that they also make all of their produce on the premises so it is always fresh.

They also pride themselves on only using butter and free range eggs and ingredients such as the finest Belgian chocolate. All are locally sourced, whenever possible.

So . . . onto the cake course . . .

Deciding which photographs to post was really, really difficult. I have too many to post them all but you'll get the general idea I think! 😁

Served on a silver 3-tiered cake stand

One plate for me. One plate for Rebecca. And the top plate of cream scones to share.

Despite the cakes being nice and petite there was no way we could eat them all, especially after having eaten most of the sandwiches.

This meant we had a nice selection to take home with us to enjoy over the next few days. 😁

8 different Cakes😨😨😨 that's awesome! Is it polite to eat it all @gillianpearce? All that 8 cakes for every person? Whoaaa... if I have a chance to have a tea with it.. I'll make sure I'll left one of my belly drawers empty. Pretty cakes... I love it!

Yeah. It was a lovely experience @cicisaja and yes it is polite to eat it all. That is the point of it but I'm not sure many people manage it. Most take the remember home with them as we did.

It turned out we had different taste in cakes so we were able to do a bit of a mix and match. No way I'd ever be able to get through the lot in one sitting though.

Well.. I think I can eat it all if the size is only 3 bites like that 😂 I think I can even emptied the plate within minutes.. but I'd better not having amy dinner after that😂

But.. taking it home to share with others is one thing that I'll do too.

I'll take you there when you come and visit and we can test out your cake eating abilities! 😂 😂 😂

Can we make a request then 😂😂 only cheese cakes.. a big one

Nah. We'll do cheesecakes another day. They are easy to find.

There's a shop down the road that does a gorgeous passion fruit and mango one. It's a bit pricey as it's handmade but since it's a bit of a distance for you to travel I'll treat you! 😍 💙 😍

I will remember this @gillianpearce 😉 when I finally make my dream come true to walk on the street of London (do you know the song?) and meet you anywhere in England I'll make sure My belly drawers half empty to eat all those cakes!

I'm looking forward to it! 😍 💙 😍

Oh I didn't know there's a cake course :-D and that it's different

There isn't usually @macchiata. At least not nowadays. Most places serve the sandwiches and the cakes at the same time but this particular place is more traditional and hence the 2 different courses. 😁

It makes more of an occasion of it.
