3 FAMILIES IN THE MOUTAINS (31 pics)

I'm heading back up the mountains to do like 4-5 photoshoots this week... thought i'd share from the previous stay up in the mountains.

31 shots is only a fraction of the shots I got for all of them but it gives a good sense for what my shoots are typically like.

I've known this family for like 10 years.

This last set actually wasn't a family photoshoot. The mom is doing a truck race later this year and raising money for a charity and the daughter is the face of the campaign. (I think i got that right) but the family was there and so I got a few shots of the others... and the truck

Beautifull as always scott. Love the bokeh and light and how your subjects always pop out! One question, what aperture do you normally use for family shots?

As low an aperture as I can get away with. Depends on how much depth in the family lineup.
Sometimes I go wide open even like 1.8 if I'm far enough away from the family which is often the case if I'm using the 1.8

It's a trade off do i want every family member tack sharp or do i want the picture to look way cool.

Also i shoot wide and tell them they can crop in later so that allows me to step back which leads to allowing 1.8-2.8 be pretty in focus on all of them

Did mom actually stick her fingers in her son's mouth and nose on the 6th photo XDDD, poor boy. Really awesome photos you have here, I bet those families are really happy to put pictures like these framed on their walls.

LOL, I actually went back to see that hahaha

Well i hope they do... and large. haha
