A humble reminder: Tell your loved ones how you feel!

in family •  7 years ago

This article is just something that I want to share with all of you here.
I have a sister, who literally moved the other side of this planet a few years ago.

Sadly enough I have only now realized that I have taken the gift of having her in my life - for granted for too long!

Now I feel that there are worlds between us (metaphorically speaking) and I am having a tough time telling her what she is to me and means to me. This is a reminder for you to not make my mistakes - your family is special, annoying, nerve-wracking, but awesome!

Don't be afraid to tell them!

I once read an article that I want to share with you here to inspire. I can only write it from memory and I have adapted it to my case, so please excuse if there are some "twists" in the story.

I met a girl and we became friends, lovers and partners. I thought I would marry her one day,
but now we do not speak anymore.

I knew a guy, we met at soccer practice when we were little. We became friends, close friends - like brothers.
Time passed, we changed and now we do not speak anymore!

I met a man during my travels and we went on exciting adventures together for weeks and we shared secrets, drinks and laughs, but our travels ended and now we do not speak anymore.

I had roommates, who became good friends. We did everything together: studying, drinking, watching Game of Thrones. We graduated from university and our lives took different turns and now we do not speak anymore.

I met a girl. Sadly we do not speak often. Sometimes weeks pass and we only see each other once every other year.
She knew the girl that was my lover,
she knew the guy that was my best friend,
I told her about the man I travelled with and she knew my roommates.
That girl has been a part of my life for more than 26 years now and has been there during the good and the bad times, she is my sister and for as long as I live she will be a part of my life and I shall be thankful to have her!

Have a great weekend!
