Sunday Family Fun on the Harpeth River Today

in family •  7 years ago

I was getting a little frustrated trying to compile EOS this weekend (I did finally get it compiled! More on that in a future post), so I made a last minute decision to take the family out, rent a canoe + a kayak, and float down a river here in Tennessee. We had a blast!

Here are some pictures and a short video at about the 40 second mark.

I didn't have my phone out much today as it was mostly tucked safely in a ziplock bag. It is my new phone, after all.

It took us about 45 minutes to drive to Foggy Bottom Canoe and Kayak Rental in Kingston Springs. We got in the water around 3:00pm and floated until 5:30pm. We all had so much fun. It was about $37 per boat and that included all the equipment and a van ride up the river. They put the boats in for you and all you have to do is float down river with little or no effort. They also pull the boats out at the end.

It was a perfect day for a perfect family activity. I know we'll be back, and I may be hunting around Craig's List for cheap canoes. :)

I hope you had a great weekend as well.

LOL!!! Anyone else get that reference to the "Princess Bride?" Ahahaha!!! "...Anyone want a peanut!?"

Cool video!

Glad someone got it. :)

I was just being silly, telling dad jokes.

Haha! Well in my book, you're a cool dad ;-)

It looks like you had a great family day! Such a good way to spend a day outside with your kids :)
I love the video, it's a good idea to keep have all the pictures together and watch it in a few years with your grown kids again :)

Congratz you compiled it, spending sunday with family is the best thing to do :D

Love kayaking and enjoying nature, glad you had a great time with your family and once again keep with the great blogs. I got your back on the witness vote.

Congrats on EOS compiling :D!

Great work, that's what life is all about :)

I have voted for you can voted my comment please. Thank you dear in advence.

Great way to spend the weekend! Cute kids.....I liked it when your little boy went 'Ha.....dad' :)

Looks like you all had a great time! :) Appreciate your including the video. The kids look happily content floating down the river. What was that about the new phone? Why tucked away in a ziplock bag? To make it waterproof?

Trip with family is the best moment ever!

Got to mix work with pleasure. A break makes me far more productive than when I try to work straight through.

It is good to get your mind of of things to go out with your family, especially when you head in to nature. Great weather, lovely people around and being near water, love it!

We should give time to our families as the time is fast and busy but we need our families and families need us.....

Family time is the best time and what a cool adventure to do with the kids!

Nothin' better than a leisurely day driftin' down a river! I grew up on the Savannah River and have many fond memories of it. Greta times. You guys look great for having three by the way! Correct me if I'm wrong. Take care and enjoy the family time together!

This deserves some attention. Upvoted and resteemed...

Sometimes the single best thing we can do for ourselves is to unplug and take a "technology break." Looks like you guys had a good time! Late fall/early winter is a good time to look for canoes/kayaks on Craigslist... when people decide they are "tired of them" or don't really have winter storage. Good luck!

I also like to swim along the river. It's fun to go in a canoe with the whole family!

You owning a canoe, now that's something! :D It's great that you get to take breaks like this once in a while. I hope the kids enjoyed the trip (it looks like they did) and I hope that these memories last them for a lifetime. Great job compiling EOS, I'm trying it out now as well.

EOS coin?that is the next big thing I think....

LOL it was a compltely different eos...

Looks like it was a great day. Thanks for the idea. I forgot that we have some canoe hire spots on the Yarra River in the Melbourne suburbs.

And good to see the wife representing with the FoxyCart shirt :)

Great work my friend!

Family time is the most important. Your kids will look back to this post 10-20 years from now and recall the memories well spent in the river.

I hope this day was fun :)

Looks like he did! Thanks for the great suggestions Luke! lol I still have so much to explore locally. Now that we are parking the rig for a little bit, I still feel like a newcomer to the area which is fun.
