Take care of your parents while you can

in family •  6 years ago

Our parents are our God’s representatives on Earth, for we came to the world through them, we grew up in their image, they shapen us, made us who we are today. So we really need to take good care of them when they are old because they took care of us when they were in their youthful age.

You took your fiancé home to introduce her to your parent in your g-wagon car, so you guys can stay for the weekend there, the girl came from an average background (not too rich but not poor), on getting to your parents house, the girl wasn’t comfortable.
She didn’t drink nor eat what she was offered because she fears for contaminations as your fathers house was old, unkempt, delapidated, and to make matters worst, the house was hot (no ventilation), the house has been like that for ages.
The girl tried staying inside the house for a while but she couldn’t help but leave to go outside where there is fresh air and took some water from the car to drink. You came outside to meet her, then she said she wants to urinate, but you knew the state of your fathers toilet so you took her to a nearby bank. On your way to the bank, guys were hailing you left, right and center because you always buy drink for them and sometimes you give them money. You got to the bank, the bank manager is your friend that you met sometimes ago at a conference in the United States. After she finished urinating, you guys had to go and lodge in a five star hotel around because she wasn’t comfortable in your own fathers house.
Your parents (African parents) states complaining that they don’t like the way she left their house and that she wouldn’t be a good wife, she wasn’t calm, she didn’t eat what was offered her or was she thinking we’ll kill her?
And they concluded that she’s not a wife material
Your parents discouraged you from marrying her and you listened to them because they are your parents.
My brother, is it now that you remembered they are your parents?
Do you know you could have avoided these situations?
How?
Fine, here is it, from your way of life, the cars you drive, the places you visit, the way you give guys money and drink, it’s so obvious you are to a reasonable extent rich, so what stops you from renovating your parents house?
What stops you from fixing the damaged pipes?
What stops you from fixing the roof, toilet, electricity in your fathers house?
Do you know if the kitchen is in a good condition, your fiancé will show your parents her cooking skills? And I trust African parents and food.
My brother, you’re a FOOL.
Irresponsibility is your other name.
You forsake your parents and you’re doing Good Samaritan to others.
You have forgotten that charity begins at home.
Now ask yourself, are you a husband material?

All you do is travel, buy cars, chase after girls, pop champagne in clubs etc and you forgot all about your root, about where you came from, YOUR PARENTS.
If you’re guilty of this, please I’m using this opportunity to plead with you to have a change of heart, do good to your parents, be kind to them always, go out of you way to please them sometimes.
Don’t let them die before you start doing these things. It shouldn’t be that when they die you’ll buy casket of 5 million naira, instead, use that 5 million naira on them now that they are alive, let them also enjoy the things you enjoy.
