Why do I follow Christ and believe in God

My wife and I woke up extra early this morning. I had to be up at 5:30 so that I could get some work done on steemit before getting ready for church ;and she woke up just to keep me company. I have a very supportive life partner. I managed to reply to all the comments that came in during the night whilst I was asleep and I had a few minutes to read and comment to 3 very well written posts.

So my morning was of to a good start. Time for church came and I've achieved my morning goal on steemit.

My belief in God and in His son Jesus is an integral part of my being, hence I try my best to go to church three times in a month. This is us after service

People are created to worship

To get to my topic today, I want you to understand this point. Human beings were created and our creator has instilled in us an instinct to worship. It's unfortunate that many people choose to worship anything and everything but God these days.
But what is to worship? According to Cambridge dictionary to worship is to have or show a strong feeling of respect and admiration for God or a god.

We've replaced worshipping God or gods, depending on your beliefs, with worshipping money, power, celebrities, titles, luxuries of life, sex and alcohol. The list is long. Why do I say we are now worshipping these things? I say this because we put them before God, before our families, before our responsibilities to our fellow men. We've become self-centred, very egotistical. We find compassion a very difficult emotion to have and to express.

However should we want more money (greed), more sex (lust), more alcohol, more cars and houses, we motivate ourselves to get those things by any means necessary. DON'T GET ME WRONG, there's nothing wrong with being rich and having lots of money. That's my goal in life. There's nothing wrong with sex; my wife and I just got married two months ago but we've been together for 9 years so that's a lot of sex before marriage. These comforts of life start being our deities when we live solely to posses them at the expense of others and at the expense of God by not putting him first.

Why do I believe in God?

Back in university I was an atheist. Prior to that I was a devoted christian through and through. I had my dance with the devil then and he won the battle but now I've claimed victory in the war. What changed, may you ask? Let's just say my life is mine today because of divine intervention. I forsake God back then but He never forsake me.

There were times in my life where I should have failed or fell short but God didn't let that be. Have you ever been involved in something so crucial in life and you knew that there was no way you were going to make it but somehow you did? I've had many of those situations and if it wasn't for God I would have never made it.

I had to take a step back one day and evaluate everything. I saw that most of my successes were not by my own doing. I should've failed in them. I asked myself if it was luck. No one can be that lucky; then what else could it have been? After a long and hard reflection on my life that took three years to comprehend, I saw that that was the work of my redeemer, my saviour, my Lord Jesus Christ! My advocate in God... Three years it took me to get back to Him. He waited patiently for me with both arms open. Since that day I never looked back.

Many might not believe in Him but they are living by his creation, choosing to worship this life's pleasure instead of him and still He waits patiently with both arms open. I am not ashamed of Him. I am not shy to call His name. I am not afraid of all who may attack me in attempts to slander His name.

I follow Christ. I love my God. Without Him I am nothing.
