Being Adopted

Some people choose to adopt children to have as part of their family especially those couple who have no children. To adopt a child means to take a child of other parents into a family.

Children are adopted for many reasons. Some children are adopted at birth. Others are adopted when they are older. Older children may feel stress until they make adjustments. They must adjust to a new family. They must adjust to a new place to live and to a new school. They must find new friends. They must adjust to new ways of doing things.
Others can help with these adjustments. Classmates can be friendly and helpful. The teacher will help. Adopted children can speak with their new parents, brothers, and sisters about the changes.
