I'm sure most sisters can relate this. Having a little brother is definitely a blessing. Especially if you are the “overprotective big sis" type. However when he starts to grow up it becomes difficult to adjust to the changes he brings not only to his own life but to yours also.
First and foremost, he undergoes a ridiculously enormous physical transformation. Once puberty hits, he outgrows you in height and size. It's indeed hard to say bye bye to your cute little bro and welcome a big pole. What comes next is his unpredictable behaviour. This one is quite tough.
“We used to be best buddies and now we're not. I wish you would tell me why.”
There are times when you feel like he is shutting you away and no longer look up to you for advice. That's the time when you miss the little boy who used to run to you for everything and anything. Rest assure, it is absolutely normal to freak out, after all you can never stop worrying about your baby bro. However for his betterment, the best thing to do is to let go of him a bit, giving him some space to deal with his own things. Don't try to be the over controlling big sis like when he was younger. Hear him out when he has something to say and pay heed to his opinions and decision. Take my words, he will make a great buddy you can confide in and vice versa but just give him the time to turn up to you and open up again. You will most probably be the first one he would like to introduce his girlfriend to. Try not be too judgmental, for no matter how perfect the girl might be you will never find her good enough for him. In fact, no one will ever be good enough for him, but that's for another time...
Inspired by my own little bro who is having it hard to deal with life.. love you loads...
