Alberta CFS

So I’m watching APTN the other night and they do a story in a young lady named Stacey Owl and how she got caught up in the Child and Family Services system.

She was moving from one point in Canada to another, Neither points were in Alberta but she had to stop there along the way and decided to visit family.

Back at the motel the Child Services showed up and took her kids, they stated that they received a tip that she was making and using Meth.

That’s quite the serious accusation for them to act on without investigating.

I’m not one to use stereotypes but wouldn’t they have seen upon showing up at the motel that she wasn’t making Meth, or using it. My only experience is with seeing the show “breaking Bad,” so wonder where they thought in the motel this was happing.

Not to mention, wouldn’t meth leave a considerable amount of trace on her if she was using?

Within the first 48 hrs she went for a blood test to prove that she wasn’t using, but the CFS refused to accept the paperwork and said they would get their own test on her done.

Apparently that never happened.

The good news... she has all her kids back after putting up a legal fight. The CFS gave her 1500 dollars in gift cards as an apology; But she sees this as a payoff.

I’m hoping she takes further legal action in the matter.

This does goes back to me asking... where is the oversight on this. Shouldn’t there be an ombudsmen involved in here somewhere?
