Human rights commission

The background from the article.

Inuit Children in Nunavut are removed from their families by Child Services, put on an airplane and shipped down to cities in the province of Quebec.

To those that don’t know Canada that’s like taking children from their parents in North Dakota and sending them across the country to be stored in New York. It’s a long way from Home.

Once in Quebec, the kids are housed in weird apartments and not assigned a service agent that’s supposed to look over them. Those that did have an agent looking over them were told that they weren’t allowed to speak their own language with each other.

That’s troubling.

The good news. The Canadian Human Rights Commission is now involved and launching a full inquiry into whether the rights of these children are being infringed upon.

My opinion, based on the article, is that their rights haven’t just been infringed on but actually ripped apart.

There’s an entire society up in Nunavut. Did the Government even try to set up a system there to keep these kids around their family?

Can you imagine being yanked from your parents and sent nearly five hours flight away. That would be a horrific feeling

Article doesn’t say why they were taken away so I’m going to assume it’s a money issue, Remove the kid and get a bonus.

Next step. The commission looks into the matter, then takes the system in front of the Human Rights tribunal for a ruling. Maybe get some action on getting these kids back home to their family.

Great post. They do the same thing to my Nation, The Innu Nation, in Labrador. Our language is very strong and they remove children and foster them out in Ontario, which is far away. Children lose their language and it is a criminal act and the government has always tried to destroy us and they need to be sued and be held responsible for their acts of genocide.

The whole system is very ugly and it destroys people. Some of my cousins have been placed in homes where they are sexually abused.

I worked in a Women's Correctional Centre, and all the women who were incarcerated, that I worked with, grew up in Foster care. It's just an excuse to steal our children and abuse them so they can destroy us as a people.

The government has done nothing but cause us problems and abuse us and make a lives a living hell.

They think they can do whatever they want because they want to act superior and they are racist and very sick in their minds. This has gone on long enough now and it's time we unite and make a change together, instead of being pushed around and manipulated.

The time is NOW
