I’m not even sure where to begin on this one.
Manitoba. Young lady in Child Services ended up in a coma when Child Services refused to help her.
Background... she’s in a group home and was complaining about a headache and pain throughout her body. The head of the home gave her some Tylenol and told her she had the flu.
As the headache got worse she was then told she was faking it and trying to get out of chores.
She was then able to phone her sisters and complained about pain, her sister couldn’t understand why they weren’t taking her to the hospital. So they phone the support worker in charge of the file, get no answer and no returned phone calls.
So a couple of days pass.
Her father gets a phone call from Child and Family Services... he’s told his daughter is in intensive care in a coma; She’s suffering from brain inflammation (symptom).
The thing is, It was several days after she went into intensive care that they finally decided to phone the parents.
It’s now under investigation by the Children’s Advocate.
But what the hell? Seriously.
The amount of pain this kid was in should seriously have been looked into.
And... are the people that run these group homes medically trained?
Clearly the CFCS workers aren’t doing their job.
