After going through a series of reports of cases where the actions of the CPS had negative effects on families, I got particularly interested in the case of Natasha Felix. I was touched by this case because she had to go through a lot because of her kids as whatever happened was not her fault and did not really need the intervention of the CPS agency. Natasha is a mother of three boys of ages 11, 9, and 5 , and they lived in Illinois close to Chicago.

On the 29th day of July 2013, Natasha sent her three sons to play with their cousin in a fenced park close to her house. Their cousin was a girl. Before allowing them leave for the park, Natasha gave her oldest son of age 11 the responsibility of looking out for his siblings while at the park. After the kids have left for the park, Natasha also went up to her apartment and from her window she watched the kids at the park from her windows.

While the kids were at the park, a local female preschool teacher came visiting the park with the company of her class. She saw Natasha’s youngest son fighting with his cousin because of a scooter. And at a point he ran into the street with the scooter. The teacher seeing what has just happened proceeded to calling the child-abuse hotline, and next thing was the department of children and family services paying Natasha a visit.
The investigator who goes by the name Nancy Rodriguez found that Natasha’s kids were “clothed appropriately, they appeared clean and well groomed” and that Natasha also seem to be “a good mother”. She also saw that the eldest boy was matured and could be allowed to go outside by himself to play in the park next door.
Further to her investigation, she asked Natasha if the boys had any special needs, and she replied truthfully and revealed that her 11 years old and her 9 years old had been previously diagnosed of ADHD(Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). She went further to tell investigator Nancy that the kids were off their medication for the summer based on advice of their doctor,
Having revealed all secrets to the investigator Nancy Rodriguez, She still recommended that Natasha be charged for inadequate supervision under the Illinois abuse and neglected child reporting Act. Based on this report, Felix Natasha was placed on Illinois child abused registry, and as a consequence, she lost her job as a home healthcare aid and also ended her dreams of becoming a licensed practical nurse. This was all because of some minor report that could have been sought and resolve there at the Felix house.

***”she’s been devastated,” says Diane Redleaf, who is the executive director of the Family Defense Center. He was Natasha’s representative at the state appeals court. He went further to say “ I’ve been talking to her about how this impacted on her , and its heartbreaking. She couldn’t send her own son to take the garbage out- she was afraid to do that”
From the above story, it is clearly seen how easy it is for parents to get labelled with abuse for no just course. No just cause because Natasha always had her kids within her line of sight. In most cases however, the kids are removed from the parents. Thanks to the overzealous, undertrained, excessively suspicious and persnickety CPS workers.
Looking at this cases and several others, you will see that there is so much power vested on the CPS and that the investigations of the CPS is clouded by their reward from the government for every kid removed. This may however not be true for all CPS units across the various states in the US as there has been few or no cases recorded in Houston . This then begs the question; as powerful as the CPS, is it possible for parents under investigation to triumph in court against the CPS? If so how? In my next article I will be discussing on how cases against the CPS can be won with you getting your child back.
Thanks for going through my article. God bless and protect you and your kids.

So this really happens, am so sorry for Natasha, I really feel the pain she went losing both the kids and her job at the same time,it will be very devastating. I think an organization body should be set aside to kind of check mate the activities of the CPS,and not just do whatever suits them because they are governmental organization. Thanks for this information,I have learnt something today. Nice post anyway
