GREED IN THE CPS(CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICE) AGENCY.

The CPS (Childs Protective Service) has actually done more harm than good to families in the United States. All to their selfish interest.
First of all, what are the obligations of the CPS? ; “The child protective service is a state agency in the united states that investigates reports reports of child abuse and neglect. It is their legal obligation to investigate every report as their main priority is child safety. The CPS can chose to work with the child’s parents in order to safely care for their child or they can go to court and remove the child totally from the under the parents umbrella.

Though, the activities of the CPS sounds rational, but this is not always the case as most families are not favoured by their intervention. For instance, these kids were obviously born and bred by their parents, and as such they have already gotten used to the company of their children and the children too to their parents, so the CPS intervention at most times normally would cause emotional trauma to both parties. Some cases may result in mental disorder for either or both parties and this is no concern to the CPS agency.

In some cases where the report of abuse turns out to be falsified, the CPS still won’t let these kids remain with their families. And even in most cases like this, when the kid speaks out and tells the agents that they are happy with their parents, they do not care to listen and reconsider because of their selfish interest. All they want to do is to keep these kids from their families without considering the effects of that action.

Most of these kids are later transferred into the homes of strangers by the CPS. While in the homes of these strangers, these kids who were never abused or neglected by their original parents may now be faced with these. There is an adage that says “blood is thicker than water” hence there is hardly cases where these children will be treated in a better way than their families would have done. There in the homes of strangers, they are faced with distrust, fear and hatred. They grow up with anxiety and depression, because some of the kid that the CPS agency couldn’t get a home for ends up being placed in hotels or CPS offices.

Now, do these CPS agents take these kids away from their parents simply for nothing? The simple answer to that question is “NO”. The reason is because the CPS agency is now a business of big bucks because it’s a government organization. This now begs the question of what I mean by “a business of big bucks”. For every child that is separated from its parents by the CPS, the government of the united state government pays the sum of $ 30,000. The parents of this kid will also be charged an amount for the financial care of the child. More so, for a handicapped child, depending on the degree of handicap, the is increased to between $40000 and $150000 per child. If the child is then adopted by a new family , an extra $4000 is remitted to the agency. As for the CPS agent who physically removed the child from its parents, this one is given a commission from the government fund by the CPS agency. Hence it is rational to believe that these money rewards involved in the separation of child from family is the driving force behind the irrational decisions made by the CPS in the separation of kids from their families. The more kids that are separated from their parents the more the reward that comes to the agents bank account. So we can see that in order for the CPS agents account to keep smiling he would have to take more kids from their homes even on false basis. In order to tackle this issue and reduce the rate at which families are being torn because of false reports, it would be wise for the money pumped to the agency for every child be reduced such that no CPS agent receives any reward commission for removing a child from its family.

From the initial definitions of the obligations of the CPS agency, you would agree that they do help in some cases where child abuse and negligence has actually occurred. But on the other hand it has been seen that these human agents are not moved because of the obligation vested on them, but rather they are moved by the bucks they get from their every operations. I personally have seen proofs of this in most of the stories that I have read on families that were investigated by the CPS. However, if the CPS continues to operate the way they are doing at present, it is sure that more families are yet to be broken by the CPS, as more kids whether abused or unabused will be taken from their families.
