The story of 13 Children Tortured by His Parents for Years

The children were tortured and left starved.

Thirteen children who were jailed for years by their parents in California, were beaten, shackled and starved. A prosecutor, Thursday (18/1) also revealed, the victim mocked with food abstinence they eat.

The victim, aged two to 29 years. They are very malnourished, suffer from muscle shrinkage and dwarf growth. "Some suffered cognitive impairment and nerve damage due to extreme and prolonged physical abuse," the prosecutor said.

Their parents face a sentence of 94 years in prison for life if found guilty of more than two dozen indictments including torture, child abuse and arrest in the case of the country's surprise.

His father, David Turpin, 57, was also accused of sexually harassing one of his young daughters. He and his wife, Louise, 49, sat silently, wearing dark clothes during their initial appearance on Thursday. The husband leans over the defense table with his hands in his lap.

The defense attorney does not file a plea for any of these allegations.
At a press conference before the trial, Riverside District District Attorney Mike Hestrin mentioned what he said was a case of "human depravity."

The children were not given food, basic hygiene and medical care and were punished for mistakes such as washing hands on the wrist.

He said the casualties were chained for weeks or even months at a time, not even removed despite using the bathroom. They are allowed to shower only once a year.

"Parents apparently buy food for themselves and do not let the kids eat it," he said. "They will buy food, including pies, apple pie, pumpkin pie, leave it on the table, let the children see it but do not eat the food," he explained.

Due to malnutrition, the 12-year-old had an average of seven years, while the eldest, a 29-year-old woman, weighed only 37 kilograms,

The couple were arrested Sunday at their home in Perris, California, about 113 kilometers east of Los Angeles, after a thin young girl climbed out the window and called the police. A brother who escaped with him became frightened and turned back,

"The fugitive 17-year-old victim has been working on a plan with his brothers to avoid this persecution for more than two years," he added.

The father registered the house since 2014, as a private school "Sandcastle Day School". He enrolled himself as the principal. The children are the only students. Most states, including California, do not monitor or examine such schools.
