Do not trust the CPS at anytime, trusting them is to leave yourself naked and unprotected from their crafty nature and tricks. But if I was to choose the worst time you can ever trust them is perhaps when you are expecting a baby, but the general rule to stick by is to not trust them at all but to be on a watch.
When you are expecting a baby, CPS often take a slight back step, and perhaps give you a little breathing space and make you feel like everything is okay. This is one of the pretense they put on, I don't know if this is what they do conventionally though, but I have met two parents who passed through the exact experience I had when I delivered my youngest child. They Agree to you Taking some medication and use it later as a criteria to take your children away.
Let me give you a little personal background about myself, I have a social anxiety disorder and I get panic attacks too. I have been dealing with this for quite a while and I have been prescribed Alprazolam(Xanax).
When we found out I was pregnant, I took it as a responsibility to seek medical advice, if it were safe to stay on these medications. Before this very time, we had already had Caseworkers attached to us like the parasites that they are, when I mentioned my condition to the caseworker(I was still a CPS trusting , naive mother), she told me it would be in my best interest to schedule an appointment with an Obstetrician that was suggested and approved by her(so I believe he was definitely a CPS stringed obstetrician). When I had my other three children, I was never on any medications, since I didn't have these anxiety and panic attacks. So it was a completely new experience to me.
During my session with the OB who later became my go-to obstetrician through the time I was pregnant. He advised I stayed on the Xanax because panic attacks and anxiety disorder was bad for the baby. He went on to state that it would be beneficial for the baby but I have to take it at low dosage. I was prescribed to also take my pain medications. I was placed on 0.5mg per day, I divided the intake into two halves and never took that 0.5mg at once, although that was what was prescribed by OB. I was so concerned about the baby, so I wanted to make it as minimal as possible.
I also refused taking the pain medication I was prescribed, I didn't like the idea of taking such medications while pregnant, I made up my mind to bear the pains and never took any of the pain medication during before my baby's delivery. It was better off I felt those pains, that was what I decided and stuck to. These medication was approved by the OB and authorized by our caseworker, she knew about them since the OB was CPS's man, she spoke about it in one of our meetings and asked if I was taking my medication as prescribed. (I never knew they were feeding for a slaughter house).
During contraction and on my way to the hospital, the pain was unbearable I decided to take my medication as "prescribed". I was delivered of a beautiful girl last year May 24th, the baby showed no sign of any withdrawal, she was completely fine. You would think I would be permitted to take my baby home, right?. No, we couldn't. The caseworker called the hospital to put a 4 days hold, to see if the child was okay.
Did they have the right to do that? was it not our right to decide whether to go home or not?. Naive me told my husband we should just stay, that there was no harm staying just to satisfy the CPS who had been "mild" to us ever since I was heavy with a child. The caseworker was talking about the drug they found in my system, the very same Medication their OB told me was beneficial for my child, the same medication the caseworker agreed on and was even asking to make sure I was taking them. What was happening!.
The second caseworker called 28th of May, saying we had to discuss since she would be filing a fucking court order for the removal of not just my baby girl, but all of my other 3 kids because they found those medication in my system. The same medication they agreed to.
What the hell was happening, The Lying Double Tongued CPS had hit us like an hurricane. Did they just Feed me for a slaughter house?. Of course they had. To Trust the CPS is like signing a death deal, they can't be trusted, stop being a dummy.

Sadly this isn't just a U.S problem. Here in the UK our 'Social Services' receive a financial incentive to remove people's children and put them through the adoption service (see HERE). There is a lot of evidence emerging that they frequently use something called protecting the child from 'future emotional harm' in order to run this commercial child selling industry. In other words they are selling children based upon future or 'thought' crime. No evidence required. Merely the suspicion of financially incentivised 'professionals.' I wish you all the very best and really hope you get your children back.

It is a problem that is so common in many countries now, though not a new thing since they have been busy taking children and processing them through the foster systems.
I already have my children back, but the effect and after taste was so traumatizing in every way and financially damning. We had the CPS in our lives for more than a Year. Thank you oyddodat for your comment
