Social services seem to only target certain sections of society if you look at the facts. Maybe, and its a big "maybe"they are justified in some cases to take children from their families.
We all realize that poverty brings with it its own problems and i would concede that family problems probably are more prevalent in working class and poor homes. In this article I'm not saying that social services don't do great work and save children, because they do. I want to explore the prejudiced attitude they seem to display to the working class and poor. There is ample evidence now that working class families have been at best let down. I think there's more to it than that. Anyone who has dealt with social services will notice a judgemental and condescending undertone in the treatment you recieve. I think that judgement has informed and molded the care they have delivered, and are still delivering to the working class and poor. This is manifesting in the abuse we have seen and are still seeing.
I have posted previously of the abuse i suffered in the 80s in council care. It was horrific and affected adversely the rest of my life.
The model of how social services deliver care to children has changed due to the recognition that the institutions the councils had set up were flawed and allowed the large scale abuse of children It has closed many of these largely autonomous institutions in favor of care in the community. This is a step forward.
However, it's my belief, (and there's evidence to support this), that the abuse of predominantly working class children continues in the community as we have seen in the UK with grooming gangs.
From my experience of childrens homes, those children targeted were the children from poorer backgrounds who had less contact,( so no voice) with their families. Those who didn't get visits or didn't go home for visits were often, even exclusively, the ones targeted.Social services failed to protect us.
As i mentioned earlier, the model for care in recent times has changed. After outcries and discoveries of large scale physical, sexual and psychological abuse most of these institutions were closed. Those that remain are largely secure units. Now care has moved to foster homes and small family care homes in the community.
Why hasn't anything changed?
The model and approach has changed so why hasn't the abuse stopped? The type of abuse and the nature has changed but the same thing has occurred. Working class children have been abandoned to their fate and when social services and the police realized they attempted to hide and then minimize it. Now i realize there was a certain amount of "PC culture" at play, but that doesn't account for the way it has been downplayed and is continuing to be downplayed. Every week in the UK there is a new grooming gang case, all from islamic communities. Some point to left leaning councils not wanting to upset their voters) and failing to challenge the islamic community. Social services knew about the abuse but believed the girls to be complicit!!! It's horrific, some of these girls are as young as 11!!!
My title asks if this is a conspiracy? I believe it is. It's part of a coordinated attack on the working class and poor in my opinion.
Three months ago my step daughter had a baby, she's 19. Social services were involved with her as she had lived with her paternal grandmother as a child due to family bereavement. As a teenager she was quite a "handful" but nothing more than that. Like most teenagers she smoked weed and played too much playstation! She came home late, a typical teenager. She eventually met a boy who she formed a relationship with. They became closer and eventually she became pregnant. Three months ago that baby was born. Ever since she has been under surveilence by private care firms, living in their rented accommodation and living in fear of losing her baby! I wont say that it's for "no reason at all" as the father of her baby assaulted her when she was pregnant.
She faces another 9 months at least of living in their accommodation and under checks from the staff of this private firm. If i was being generous i would say they were over cautious. But in reality they have a vested interest in her continued surveillance, as their shifts on their zero hours contracts rely on it!! it's a travesty, last night was her first day since the babies birth that she hasn't had a support worker overnight. She has had the experience ruined by the internal politics of social services and private care firms with a vested interest. She is a very good mother. just learning like most young mothers. But with an implied threat in everything she does. She is scared to go on a night out to celebrate babies birth, three months later. It's a travesty, she is seen as an income to some it seems!
She is in total fear. She hasn't done anything wrong, her partner has! She doesn't drink or take drugs and she hasn't been in trouble with the police. Her only "crime" is being working class and poor and coming to the attention of social services!!
Social services no doubt save lives and reduce suffering in places in society. however, the experience of the working class and poor is a different story. Social services have been shown time and time again to be at best, indifferent to the plight of this community.
In my opinion, they are just another cog in a machine that is targeting and "culling"* the working class and poor. From "planned parenthood" in the USA to "grooming gangs" in the UK, these are all mechanisms by which the working class and poor are being annihilated. We have to face facts, with the global movement of manual labor and robotics the working class and poor are not a demographic needed in this new world!
To make matters worse in the UK social services work has been put out to tender and is now being run by private companies. Good care and profit don't mix
This is why initiatives like @familyprotection are essential in my view and I'm happy to donate. There are many private groups around the world that fight the fight against bad decisions and cover ups of social services. In future if allowed i will share them on @familyprotection.
This is the only way we will change things. The decentralized blockchain is honest and can't be stopped. It's essential that we keep talking about our experiences to reveal the full picture.
I am recovering from my abuse and find this theraputic. I also protest in person. But i suffered for 40years in silence, this is the power they have over us. I can't undo what happened in the past, but i can help others in the present..
We can never stop talking we've done that for years...
Thanks for reading. If you have any comments or experiences it would be nice to hear about them below. I'm not very "techy" and this is the first attempt to use the markdown styling guide..
Peace

Thank you. I think the innitiative you have created is a great thing.
It not only allows people to talk and express themselves in a meaningful way, and at the same time be able to give back and help others in this fight. We need to stop what is happening and has always happened to kids. We need to challenge those in power to protect every child. Not just some.
While we talk it can never be hidden....

Me too!! have been since the age of 12. I'm now 52!! Social services have always been a way of surveying and controlling the working class.
Howver, in recent years they are a cog in a machine that is trying to get rid of the working class and our culture. We are surplus to requirements as manual labour can be acquired from anywhere around the globe. Automation will take most manual work and wars aren't fought with huge armies anymore, so they are getting rid of the working class as a community.. They are doing this by poor healthcare and by preventing large families.Think about it, this is serious stuff.....
Thanks for reply..

Yes and I am drawing very similar conclusions.

I definitely think that they always point to the disadvantaged, because instead of removing children because their parents do not have jobs, they do not train them and they provide sources of employment? there are many solutions do not necessarily send children to a shelter

That's exactly what i think. Taking kids should be the last resort. unfortunately now there are private firms all going after the same funding, there is inevitably a conflict.
The state in the UK want kids educated one way only, even against parents wishes! How can tat be right? They are getting rid of the working class. The same kids that go through care system end up on council run drug programmes . That is also a conflict.....

Great post. Yes, it seems to have become a business, along with the traditional abuse and exploitation of children in care. It breaks your heart in every way.
