The background.

The 60's scoop began in the 50's and ran until the 80's; it's where the Government of Canada confiscated First Nations children and either adopted them out to non-native families or into permanent Foster Homes.

Some Children were adopted out to families in other Countries, all against their parents wishes.

Recently there was a settlement with the First Nations people that had been removed, but for some reason the Government wouldn't allow the Metis Population to be involved in that.

Currently there are 20,000 Metis people that have come forward to say that they were taken away from their parents and wrongfully put up for adoption.

Personal note, I can't imagine who would ever allow that to happen. It's barbaric and something you see in movies like Braveheart.

I'm going to be watching this case closely as I do have friends in the Metis world as well as some of them that were adopted out and looking for their culture.
