DIDON, ÉNÉE
Nuit d’ivresse et d’extase infinie!
Blonde Phœbé, grands astres de sa cour,
Versez sur nous votre lueur bénie;
Fleurs des cieux, souriez à l’immortel amour!

DIDON

Versez sur nous votre lueur bénie;
Fleurs des cieux, souriez à l’immortel amour!

ÉNÉE
Par une telle nuit la pudique Diane
Laissa tomber enfin son voile diaphane
Aux yeux d’Endymion.

DIDON

Versez sur nous votre lueur bénie;
Fleurs des cieux, souriez à l’immortel amour!

  • "Nuit d'Ivresse", Didon (Dido) and Enée (Aeneas) from Hector Berlioz's Les Troyens, Libretto by Hector Berlioz based on Virgil's Aeneid, Composed between 1856 and 1858, first performance on November 4, 1863 at the Théatre de la Ville, Paris, France.

English Translation:
DIDO, AENEAS
Endlessly intoxicating night of ecstasy!
Golden Phoebe, and you, great stars of her court,
Shine upon us your blessed light;
Heavenly flowers, smile upon eternal love!

DIDO
On such a night, crowned with golden laburnum,
Your mother Venus followed the fair Anchises
To the groves of Mount Ida.

AENEAS
On such a night, headlong in joyous love,
Troilus came to the foot of Troy’s walls
To await the lovely Cressida.

DIDO, AENEAS
Endlessly intoxicating night of ecstasy!
Golden Phoebe, and you, great stars of her court,
Shine upon us your blessed light;
Heavenly flowers, smile upon eternal love!

AENEAS
On such a night, chaste Diana
Finally shed her diaphanous veil,
In the sight of Endymion.

DIDO
On such a night the son of Cythera
Received coldly the rapturous tenderness
Of Queen Dido!

AENEAS
And on the same night, alas! the unjust queen,
Accusing her lover, obtained from him with ease,
The sweetest of forgiveness.

DIDO, AENEAS
Oh, endlessly intoxicating night of ecstasy!
Golden Phoebe, and you, great stars of her court,
Shine upon us your blessed light;
Heavenly flowers, smile upon eternal love!

So, I hope you all had beautifully exciting birthdays, and I wish you a lot of love, prosperity, joy, abundance, happiness, perseverance, and wisdom in your lives as artists and as people.

Mesdames et messieurs, I present to you Tom as Enée or Aeneas and Lucky as Didon or Dido having a romantically intimate moment together based on Berlioz's epic opera Les Troyens. This five-act opera is divided into two parts, with the first focusing on the Trojan invasion, spanning from Act 1 to Act 3, and the second involving Enée's encounter with Didon the Carthaginian queen, spanning from Act 4 to Act 5. Out of all the operatic excerpts, I chose the duet between Enée and Didon "Nuit d'Ivresse" because I thought this would be a suitable scenario for Tom and Lucky to find themselves in. When I first saw Tom and Lucky, I figured that they would make a nice choice for Enée and Didon, what with Tom imbuing heroism, courage, and fortitude and with Lucky being absolutely feminine, gorgeous, and just as strong. I even based their costumes of what they were wearing according to Serpanade-Toons's clothing designs with a few twists here and there.

"Nuit d'Ivresse" from Berlioz's Les Troyens is one of my most favourite duets in all of French grand opera history. It is also wonderful for any dramatic tenor or Heldentenor singing Enée and any dramatic soprano or dramatic mezzo-soprano singing Didon because of how their voices can blend together in this romantic duet as well as the andante tempo and the F-sharp Major key that emphasises the tragic heroes' intimate moment together before Didon meets her tragic end due to Enée abandoning her. To quote Bugs Bunny from "What's Opera Doc?", "Well, what did you expect in an opera? A happy ending?", especially if it is an opera as grand as Berlioz's Les Troyens. Accompanying this piece of Luckom fan art are three of my favourite interpreters of this duet, respectively as Enée and Didon: Jon Vickers and Josephine Veasey, Nicolai Gedda and Shirley Verrett, Guy Chauvet and Régine Crespin, Gary Lakes and Kathryn Harries, Ben Heppner and Michelle DeYoung, Roberto Alagna and Beatrice Uria Monzon, and Bryan Hymel and Yvonne Naef. Enjoy and please let me know which version you like the most as well as which one you think is appropriate for this picture.
