Trials of a Teenage Werevulture by Emily Martha Sorensen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
So you think you had a tough time in school? Imagine living in a world populated by Wesen, where you are expected to "turn" into your supernatural form in adolescence.... and Lisette, instead of becoming a werehawk like the rest of her family, becomes a werevulture. This causes consternation, particularly when she finds out that Benedict Arnold was one... and finds herself developing an appetite for garbage. Even worse, there does not seem to be a werevulture clan left.... and she is faced with finding out why.
A "Rarity Clan" seems to offer hope for misfits.... but All Is Not As It Seems, and Lisette is plunged into completely unexpected intrigue, while trying to figure out what her abilities are.
The society of the book may be a bit confusing --- you may have to consult your local Grimm to guide you through the assortment of "clans". But overall this is a delightful story, and I await the next installment.
