Paul's farewell at Miletus: Men will come forward perverting the truth to draw the disciples away after them. Acts 20:30

The Book of Acts tells how the apostle Paul, at the end of his third missionary journey, met the presbyters of Ephesus in the city of Miletus. The apostle of the gentiles, as a preacher of the Christian faith, was a person guided, enlightened, and inspired by the Holy Spirit, and probably knowing his destiny, that of being judged in Rome by the emperor after his arrival in Jerusalem, he said an emotive farewell to his brothers in the faith.
In this fraternal greeting tinged with nostalgia, the apostle Paul warned the leaders of the church of Ephesus of the greatest enemy of the Kingdom of God, the empire or dominion of God's perfections, the teaching of the heresy, that is, the teaching of the error.
Even when Jesus spoke of the end of times, of the day of final judgment, he spoke of a time when heresies would prevail as the only truths. And when this happens the first victims are freedom and hope, because heresies impose oppression and ignorance. As Jesus taught, there is nothing worse for a community following the Son of Man than a wolf dressed in sheep's clothing.
This is why Paul said goodbye with the following words:
"Keep watch over yourselves and over the whole flock or which the holy Spirit has appointed you overseers, in which you tend the church of God that he acquired with his own blood. I know that after my departure savage wolves will come among you, and they will not spare the flock. And from your own group, men will come forward perverting the truth to draw the disciples away after them" Acts 20:28-30.
The spiritual warfare was presented in this way by Paul, and it is up to each believer to accept the truth or not. And about this issue one thing is clear, those who follow the dictates of error moved by the desires of the flesh such as selfishness or lust, cannot make the gifts of God bear fruit.
