Domestic fruits production, processing and export-oriented prospects

Bangladesh's contribution to world's fruit trading is very low. Despite the high demand of fresh and processed fruits abroad, Bangladesh is currently exporting fresh fruits in a limited way. Among the most notable fruits, jackfruit, mango, pineapple, lemon, kamranga, batabilabu, tantul, rice, etc. are notable. In addition to fresh fruits, frozen fruits (Satkhata, jackfruit seeds, blacksmith, lemon, olive oil, etc.) are being exported to Italy, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Oman and Bahrain.

According to the Hortex Foundation's data description, in the year 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11, 2242 metric tons, 1528.13 metric tons, 264.70 metric tons, respectively from Bangladesh, 5203.70 metric tons, 5411.21 metric tons and 11756.63 metric tons of fruits are exported, which is increasing sharply.
