To get the pH value of the soil up we sometimes sprinkle calcium on the fields.

Naturally there are many soils in the Netherlands which have a low pH and thus the nitrogen and phosphate utilization affect negatively. The soil can consequently not delivering optimum yields. If the pH is only 4.0 instead of a target value of 5.4 than the maize yield can easily by 10% to 20% decrease. Through liming we can prevent this!
