Hi every one, how was your night? Hope every thing is fine. On today write up, i will be talking about Snail rearing as the topic in place today as directed @farm.

Perhaps the best known edible land snail species in the Western world is Helix pomatia (also known as Roman snail or Burgundy snail).
This snail is located throughout much of Europe. There are almost every were around that encironment.
Cornu aspersum (also known as Helix aspersa), the next most known, were found originally in the Mediterranean region, but are now also common in many parts of North America, Central America, and Australasia.

Snail are slow creeping animals, that takes their time to creep.
Snail farming in Nigeria is considered to be one of the most lucrative agribusiness you can start with low capital. Yet, it is one of the most neglected animal rearing.

Snail farming does not constitute nuisance to the environment;the droppings are generally firm and odourless. * Snail are noiseless and easy to handle.

Benefits Of Snail Farming

  1. Provision of Employment.
  2. Very Easy to handle.
  3. Shells can be used for ornaments.
  4. Less land for cultivation.
  5. They’re cheap and easy to raise any where.
  6. Not capital intensive.
  7. Snail Meat contains anti-tuberculosis attributes.
  8. Snail meat is used in the production of local herbs to be used by pregnant women.
  9. Snail farming can be done part time.
  10. Snail farming can be done along side grasscutter farming.

    Challenges Of Snail Farming
  11. The major challenge of raising snails is that uncontrolled rearing can lead to a pest break-out that is much pest will be around the surounding.
  12. Snails can be invasive and become threatening to crops. They consume over 500 types of crops, and can single-handedly destroy a farm’s products. So be care of your crops when rearing snails.
    3.While raising them, make sure their enclosures are well secured to keep them from runing out or escaping, and to protect them from predators like birds, dogs and other land animals.

    We all should try to practice snail farming because it requires less time and money.
