Hello my brothers accompany me in this adventure of learning, I would like us to study a little about EL TAMARINDO.
To be honest this is not one of my favorite fruits but there are really many benefits that it contains.
The tamarind is native to the African continent and was introduced to the American Continent by the Spaniards. It is a fruit tree that is exploited mainly in regions of warm semi-arid climate, where fruit production is adequate, both in quantity and quality. It is also grown in areas with a warm humid climate, in which fruits of lower quality are obtained by the conditions of high relative humidity.
Tamarind is a highly rustic fruit tree, since it can thrive in poor or marginalized soils with little or no irrigation and minimal care in relation to other tropical fruit trees. However, to obtain the best yields in quantity and quality of the fruit, it is necessary to provide all the tasks inherent in a well-tended garden.
EL TAMARINDO, another tree of life
The main objective of the exploitation of the cultivation of tamarind is the production of fruit for its use in the production of sweets, juices, bottled soft drinks, fresh waters, snow and sauces. However, its usefulness does not end only with the use of fruit. In various reports and opinions of producers and researchers, tamarind is compared to the coconut tree as another "tree of life", since it is a widely adapted, easy-to-use plant species and uses most of its products. The tamarind produces a great diversity of nutritional ingredients of great nutritional value, it is raw material for the pharmaceutical, wood industry and products for construction. Its resistance to drought and the strength of the structure means that it can be used as a windbreak barrier to prevent soil erosion and protect people, crops and animals. Trees are a beautiful element in the landscape of parks, gardens, streets, avenues and roads.
Tamarind is a tree of slow growth and large size; in optimum conditions of development the trees reach from 24 to 30 meters of height. The trunk is short, thick and straight, the bark has fissures along the trunk and main branches and has different shades ranging from ash gray to dark brown. The crown of the tree is round and large with a diameter of up to 15 meters; its foliage is dense and leafy, with strong branches, extended, flexible and with a feathery patience, which makes it attractive as a shade tree.
Tamarind is a tree with evergreen foliage (evergreen); however, in very dry climates it behaves like subcaducifolio, since it can lose the foliage for a short period of time during the hot months.
The leaves are pale green to dark green, alternate and parapinnate; They measure 7.5 to 15 centimeters long and have 10 to 20 pairs of leaflets. The flowers are hermaphroditic, pale yellow with red or orange veins and measure 2 to 2.5 centimeters in diameter. They are formed in small axillary and terminal clusters, 5 to 10 centimeters long and with 8 to 14 flowers per cluster.
The flower buds are brightly colored (white, red or pink). The fruit is an indehiscent pod (stays closed when ripe), protuberant and oblong, cinnamon brown or grayish brown, slightly curved and flattened. It measures 7 to 20 centimeters long and 1 to 3 centimeters wide. The fruits are formed in abundance along the branches or in the terminal parts of these. When the fruits mature, their peel is brittle and can easily break. The pulp is the edible part of the fruit, brown in color, firm, viscous, granular, with a pleasant bittersweet taste and high in sugar and acid. It has 1 to 12 bright brown seeds, flat, oval and joined together by fibers that are located in the pulp of the fruit.
Thanks for throwing light on this amazing plant we have indeed learnt from this publication... thanks for sharing
