While doing experiments with animals and testing a wide variety of cancers , some of them human cancers , some of them mouse cancers , ranging from breast cancer to ovarian cancer to melanoma , glioma and other types, researchers found that fasting could protect the mice from chemotherapy side effects.

Cancer cells have a hard time dealing with the fasting cycles because of the major reduction in glucose , in growth factors , their supply is cut off, things which make them grow and proliferate are no longer available.

They discovered that there are potential applications for cancer patients. In a case report of 10 cancer patients which they have received chemotherapy with or without fasting and they reported that they did much better or better when they fasted in combination with chemotherapy.

Because the results are so remarkable they think that oncologists who are in charge of the diet of the cancer patients, for a particular type of patient who may not have another option, they should consider the fasting right away.

One should be supervised while fasting because there can be problems like reduction in blood pressure, too much toxins flushed at once can make one feel nauseous , lethargic , etc.

This post is highlighting the benefits of fasting, however chemotherapy has been brought into discussion as well.

I personally do not advocate the use of chemotherapy at all, because of the devastating effects of this procedure can have on one’s body and bear in mind that chemotherapy causes cancer as well and is only 2.1% effective toward 5 year survival .

So what’s the point of trying to get rid of cancer with something that causes cancer?

I am not a doctor and of course you should always check and discuss these issues with your qualified physician as this article is for information purposes only and it is not health advice or anything like that.

fasting has also been shown to aid recovery from surgery (sorry don't have the source) this is not limited to cancer, fasting is just good for you.
I stopped eating after 5:30 pm a year ago and I am feeling much better in general and have lost weight without changing anything else. Another commonly reported benefit is improved sleep, which I am definitely enjoying

For sure has a lot more benefits, like you said - the first one being weight loss.

It's amazing that while you are fasting the digestive system ''shuts down'' and the energy goes towards cleansing and detoxifying the body from toxins, unwanted chemicals, getting rid of old and weak cells while producing new ones and so on.

I will post more about this amazing remedy which can be done in different methods : intermittent fasting, juice fasting, water fasting, dry fasting, etc.

can't say I'm a fan of juice fasting as that's just fruit sugar. Sure it has nutrients etc, but without the fiber its going to trigger all the hormonal changes to make you body a fat-storing machine. plus you will be starving all the time. I find it easier to not eat at all and get all the benefits of autophagy (which is what you describe - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autophagy) . But each to their own ;)
