Fathers Day Long Island Golf Beach Boat Fishing All Good

Friday turned out to be not quite as nice on Long Island as it could have been thanks to an upper level disturbance that moved off the coast of Southern New England. It brought the cloud line back to about NYC so it was in and out sun in Nassau and more clouds in Suffolk and even a few sprinkles popped up around mid morning and mid afternoon. But that disturbance is moving out now and sky conditions have been improving nicely this evening. Skies will clear out tonight with lows in the mid 50s to lower 60s.

There are no changes to the Fathers Day weekend outlook. Dry air will be overhead for Saturday with lots of sunshine everywhere. Temperatures will be in the low to mid 80s with very comfortable humidity. Beaches will be a few degrees cooler in the afternoon when the sea breeze develops but that south wind should not make it too far inland. Sunday will be a bit warmer but still reasonably comfortable with lots of sun and highs in the mid to upper 80s.

It is Monday that we are likely to see highs in the 90s in many locations including along the south shore. Also the humidity will be much higher so it will be uncomfortable. No showers or thunderstorms are forecast through the weekend but there is a chance that one or two scattered storms could pop up late in the afternoon or evening on Monday.

Widespread thunderstorms are possible at some point on Tuesday but that will depend on the timing of the front which we still haven't quite worked out. Also the bigger question for later next week is whether the front keeps dropping south or stalls out and keeps the threat for showers in the forecast for Wednesday and beyond. We will work that out at some point in the next day or so.
