Two new managers will be aiming to get off to a winning start when Bayern Munich take on Paris Saint-Germain in Saturday’s International Champions Cup clash.

Team News
While James Rodriguez, Corentin Tolisso and Thomas Muller are set to be absent after taking part in the World Cup, a strong squad will still include the likes of Arjen Robben, David Alaba and Arturo Vidal.

Meanwhile, Les Parisiens are without star attacking trio Neymar, Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe, although Gianluigi Buffon is set to make his debut in Klagenfurt.

This ICC clash of giants will mark Niko Kovac’s debut on the sidelines for the club he represented 51 times as a player between 2001 and 2003 and could throw some hints regarding the system he will use in the coming season. The question of whether he’ll continue to walk the tactical path laid out by Jupp Heynckes last season or if he’ll implement a more counter-attacking approach like the one he successfully applied at Eintracht Frankfurt remains wide open.

Although the Bundesliga champions will be missing the likes of James Rodriguez, Corentin Tolisso or Thomas Müller, all of them resting after the World Cup in Russia, the Bavarians will still field a strong side against French champions PSG, who will also miss star players like Neymar and Kylian Mbappé. After this match, Bayern will head to the United States for two more preparation bouts against Juventus in Philadelphia (25 July) and Manchester City in Miami (28 July).

Probable line-ups
Bayern: Ulreich - Rafinha, Martínez, Mai, Alaba - Vidal, Sanches, Shabani - Robben, Wagner, Ribery
Coach: Niko Kovac

PSG: Buffon - Georgen, Marquinhos, Kimpembe, Kurzawa - Krychowiak, Verratti, Rabiot - Jesé, Weah, Nkunku
Coach: Thomas Tuchel
