There’s already been some talk of trying to get Johnny Manziel into the FCFL. Manziel is obviously talented, controversial and entertaining. But he’s not the only QB on the market for a better job. And make no mistake…a starting role in the FCFL will be nothing to sneeze at.
Keenan Reynolds. The former Navy quarterback was most recently seen as a wide receiver on the Washington Redskins practice squad. This is a terrible misuse of his talents. Reynolds scored eighty-eight touchdowns in college RUSHING the ball. While his passing stats were somewhat less exciting, his rushing more than made up for that. In 2013, Reynolds had a game against Hawaii where he rushed 28 times for 226 yards and 4 TDs. He followed that up two weeks later against San Jose State with 36 carries for 240 yards and 7 TDs. Let’s get Reynolds on-board with the FCFL and put him back at QB where he belongs!
Tim Tebow. Seriously. He may be the one guy who gives Manziel a run for his money in controversy department, but at least the controversy is over his skill level, not his behavior. While Tebow was never viewed as a long-term solution in the NFL, he did lead the Broncos deep into the playoffs one year and was an all-time great College Football player. As a 29 year old struggling in Double A, it’s safe to say that baseball is not Tebow’s game. He wants to play QB and we should help him achieve that dream.
Colin Kaepernick. Ok…maybe THIS is the one guy who can top Manziel when it comes to controversy. But there’s no question (well, not too much question) that he wants to play. Get him on a team in the FCFL and he’ll bring a ton of publicity with him. Out of all of these guys, he’s the only one who would probably deserve a starting role in the NFL based purely on his current abilities.
